Arcadia Daniel Cooper Exhibition starts Saturday 7th October
1.00pm until the 9th November 2017
During this exhibition the Gallery will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10 until 4
Daniel Cooper’s art is a highly emotional and personal response to the ever changing skies and landscape of Cumbria; the county where he has lived and worked for almost 10 years. In his new solo show, Arcadia, hosted by the Leck Gallery, Cooper brings together a collection of original paintings, drawings and limited edition prints of much admired views of the Lake District and Cumbria. Cooper uses charcoal and mixed media, and for the first time, he exhibits a new collection of large-scale works on canvas. Containing over thirty original art works, Arcadia describes the rural landscape in the throe of the elements above and beyond.
In the spirit of the highly influential romantic landscape painters from the 18th Century, Cooper seeks to capture the sublime, the beautiful and the essence of place, all the while sympathising and understanding light, cloud and fell. For Cooper, observing reality and getting involved with place is essential, often revisiting his favourite spots. He paints with feeling and constantly looks to refine his distinctive style, yet ultimately, it is nature that inspires the imagination.
Daniel Cooper has achieved national and international acclaim over the past few years, represented by some of the finest galleries in Cumbria, and his work has been shown in museums and historic buildings, seen on UK television, collected by celebrities and found in private and commercial collections worldwide.
